Targeting the Right Kids: The MTSS Framework of Interventions and Supports (grades 7 & 8) 22-23

All students receive intervention and support from their classroom teachers. However, schools must identify students in need of additional intervention and support through a three-tiered framework called MTSS. The Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is Texas implementation and guidance to ensure that the students identified as needing additional instruction receive evidence-based strategies within the regular classroom to reduce academic and behavioral gaps. This includes students with disabilities. Through data-driven instruction and assessments, the problem-solving team collects and analyzes universal screeners, diagnostics, progress monitoring, and other sources of data to determine if the student is demonstrating adequate growth to grade-level instruction across all tier levels: universal, targeted, and intensive.
