Middle School Scientific and Engineering Practices (Day 1)

The recently adopted science TEKS affect the middle school curriculum both in concepts (addition and removal) and thinking. One of the biggest changes to the new TEKS is the move to scientific and engineering practices. These standards are designed to help students make connections between science and engineering, and engage in the practice of investigating and designing in order to answer questions and solve problems. During this TWO-DAY workshop, we will learn about the new TEKS and walk through several experiences focusing on designing labs and solutions, analyzing and interpreting data, and developing evidence-based explanations. You will leave with resources that target developing these scientific and engineering thinking skills throughout the school year. Please also register for the day two workshop in the spring of 2024.
