I Want My PFE

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Throw on your neon, crank up the volume, and join us for a totally tubular Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) event that’ll take you back to that magical decade- the ‘80s—where big hair, rad tunes, and bold moves ruled the airwaves! Just like music videos revolutionized the music world in the '80s, this session will revolutionize your understanding of PFE. With an opening keynote by author and leader Todd Nesloney, breakout sessions presented by Region 7 LEAs, and a closing session with the State Director for Title I, Part A; Title I, Part D; Title II, Part A; and Title IV, Part A in the Federal Program Compliance Division at TEA, Jaime Huerta, you will be cheering, “I Want My PFE!”

Learn how Harmony Elementary and Intermediate provided a CTE educational day for students and a night for learning what exactly CTE means for parents and families. This workshop will encompass the process of creating such events for the community and family involvement. Harmony ISD will discuss the process from presenting the idea to the administration, researching laws that guide educators to include families and the community, incorporating leaders from the junior high and high school into the informational community night, and the setting of the day for students to learn about CTE options available at our school. As a bonus, we will discuss how students enrolled in CTE hours will be able to present to the younger students and prepare them with ideas for their future choices.

359544 Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.
12:30 PM - 1:15 PM
Magnolia Room
Hello, McFly; Are you making PFE harder than it needs to be? With so many programmatic requirements, being a district or campus administrator can make you feel like you are always in a time warp. We didn't build a time machine out of a Delorean, but we did implement a very successful community event that incorporated elements for Title I, Title III, SHAC, McKinney-Vento, Mental Health, parent required trainings, and safety to name a few. We will share resources, funding opportunities, and how we plan to grow the event in 25-26. We'll take a step BACK to examine our last two events and share our plan for the FUTURE. You will walk away with contact lists to outside resources, brainstorm who your key players could be, and have a sketch to make this work back at your district.
