Join us for Safety Day 2025 for Parents & Teachers, a day geared toward the parents and teachers of individuals with autism and significant cognitive disabilities! The Safety Day 2025 for Parents & Teachers has customized content covering a range of safety topics such as fire, water, firearm safety, mental health resources, and more. Parents & Teachers will have the opportunity to learn how to proactively prepare and work with their students to increase safety.
*Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch and eat together in the Dogwood room

The September 26th Project is an annual initiative observed on September 26th, dedicated to raising safety awareness and preparedness for families, especially those with children on the autism spectrum, in the event of emergencies such as fires or natural disasters. Created in memory of autism advocates Feda and Muhammed Almaliti, who tragically lost their lives in a house fire, this project aims to ensure that families are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to protect their loved ones in times of crisis. Join us as we honor their legacy by learning essential emergency preparedness strategies tailored for families with children with autism.

Learn how to proactively communicate your child’s unique needs and behaviors to local police, what information to keep readily available, and how tools like home/car decals, medical ID bracelets, and emergency alert forms can make a critical difference in times of crisis. We'll also explore how to build relationships with your local police department, including programs where families can register their loved ones or request officer training. Whether your child has autism, a developmental disability, or another condition, this session will offer tools, resources, and peace of mind to help keep your family safe.
