Special Education Liaison will assist LEA leadership teams in evaluating SPED programs and performance. The purpose is to assist LEAs in building capacity in offering targeted support and assistance to your LEA. Technical Assistance includes LEA data, root cause analysis, review of statute to aid the leadership team in evaluating the overall performance of the Special Education program using a continuous improvement lens. ESC 2 assists the leadership team in taking a proactive approach by addressing SPED requirements and improving student performance. Based on results, the leadership team will be able to report, identify, and prioritize areas of strengths and improvement opportunities.

This information session is designed to provide educators with an overview of how to become certified as a Principal in Texas through the ESC 2's Partners for Educational Leadership (PEL) program. PEL is a State Board of Educator Certification approved alternative certification route that offers educators an opportunity to pursue an exciting, challenging, coaching career in school leadership. Our comprehensive blended program (virtual and face to face class sessions) is designed to ensure future administrators are successful leaders in the educational community.

This training program is intended for new and aspiring school nutrition program managers and directors with five years or less experience. Lessons provide an overview of school nutrition programs, define the role and responsibilities of a manager or director, and review the relationship between local policies and State/Federal regulations. Advancing Educational Leadership (formerly known as Instructional Leadership Development) training is a three (3) day, state-developed training designed to prepare school leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary for instructional leadership. AEL will address the following areas: Curriculum and Instruction Data Gathering and Analysis Goal Setting Effective Conferencing Skills Conflict Resolution Skills Team Building Skills Teacher Coaching and Mentoring

Requirement: Participants in this course must be current cohort participants who are accepted into the ESC2 Partners for Educational Leadership (PEL) program. Course Summary: This course focuses on equipping educators and school leaders with the skills needed to analyze and interpret data from the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR). Participants will learn how to identify key areas of concern related to student performance and achievement by examining campus-level data. Through this process, they will develop a deeper understanding of how data-driven decision-making supports academic growth. The course will also emphasize the critical role of using this data to create a well-developed, targeted Campus Improvement Plan (CIP) that addresses identified needs, sets measurable goals, and outlines actionable strategies for continuous school improvement.

This course provides an introduction to the Texas Principal Standards and their role in shaping effective campus leadership. Participants will explore the key competencies outlined in the standards and how they align with the responsibilities of a principal. The coursework will also include an overview of the TExES 268 exam (Principal as the Instructional Leader), with a focus on understanding the test framework, question formats, and performance expectations. Additionally, participants will be introduced to the official test preparation manual to support effective study strategies and exam readiness. This course will provide an overview of The Performance Assessment for School Leaders (PASL) which is a performance-based exam required for principal certification in Texas. The PASL is designed to evaluate a candidate’s ability to apply real-world leadership skills in a school setting. Aspiring principals will receive an overview and preparation guidance on the required PASL tasks which focused on identifying school challenges, supporting professional development, and fostering a collaborative school culture. These tasks require written reflections, supporting evidence, and, in some cases, video submissions. On July 30, Dr. Alan Wolfelt will deliver a virtual live presentation titled Helping Children and Teens Cope With Grief: A Companioning Philosophy of Caregiving. The day will also feature interactive workshops and breakout sessions, providing attendees with practical tools and strategies for mental health support, as well as opportunities for networking. On July 31, the spotlight will shift to academic counseling. Keynote speaker John Muniz will present on Special Education Guidelines, Resources, and Documentation on Their Responsibilities and Legal Requirements. The day will also include hands-on workshops, engaging discussions, and opportunities to connect with professionals in education.. Open to mental health professionals, counselors, educators, social workers, community leaders, and anyone interested, this event is a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and inspire meaningful change.

Assistant Principals will engage in professional growth opportunities to develop their instructional leadership skills. By providing support and training opportunities, assistant principals learn more about their role as a campus administrator and strengthen their leadership capacity. The APA will engage assistant principals in 6 monthly meetings throughout the school year focused on developing leadership skills to become a successful school administrator. * Registration fee per participant (not enrolled in the ESC, Region 2 COOP) is $100.
