Participants will be trained in the setup and use of the Region 7 Planetarium. In addition, they will explore using it to support grade level TEKS. Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be eligible to check out Region 7's planetarium for use with their students. At least 2 people from a district or campus must attend together. The participant will plan classroom activities aligned to grade level TEKS. They will also know how to set up and operate the planetarium as well as reserve it for a week during the year.

Bring computer science and computational thinking to your elementary classroom with Launch_K5, a 3-day hybrid workshop for K-5 educators. This training aligns with the new Tech Apps TEKS for the 2024-2025 school year and integrates computational thinking, computer science, cyber security, and AI into your curriculum. You’ll receive both unplugged and plugged lessons and learn block-based coding and physical computing. Participants MUST attend all three days (2 in-person, 1 asynchronous) to receive credit. Day 1 covers foundational concepts. Day 2 training is split into grade bands; K-2 (October 18) and 3-5 (October 24). You will be registered for the appropriate grade band training once you have completed Day 1. The online course can be completed at your convenience after Day 2 but MUST be completed by December 13. Upon completion, you’ll receive a CPE certificate from the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin.
