Join us for an in-depth professional development session designed to deepen educators’ understanding of the legal foundations and instructional practices essential to developing effective, standards-based IEPs for students with dyslexia. Participants will: • Recognize key federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance that direct IEP development and support students with dyslexia. • Identify the critical role of the enrolled grade-level general education curriculum in shaping the SB IEP process. • Develop comprehensive present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFP) statements using multiple data sources, including baseline data for identified areas of need and the impact of dyslexia on a student’s access to and progress in the general curriculum. • Write measurable annual goals aligned with the PLAAFP and inform the specially designed instruction (SDI) required to support student success. • Design effective data collection methods to monitor progress on annual goals and establish systems for reporting progress to families. By the end of this session, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to create compliant, data-driven, and instructionally meaningful IEPs that support the unique needs of students with dyslexia. #DYSESC1

The CTOPP-2 meets the need for an assessment of reading-related phonological processing skills. It identifies students with phonological difficulties who may be at risk for reading problems. The CTOPP-2 can be used to identify individuals who are significantly below their peers in important phonological abilities, as well as determine strengths and weaknesses in already developed phonological processes. This session will provide the participant with the background and uses of the CTOPP-2, as well as how to administer, score, and interpret the CTOPP-2. Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) is the most common cause of visual impairment in developed countries. Unlike ocular conditions, CVI is a neurological visual processing disorder and can be challenging to diagnose, as it is typically identified through observed visual behaviors rather than findings from a standard eye examination. Recently, a CVI screening tool for infants and young children, the Neonatal Assessment Vision European Grid (NAVEG), was developed to support early identification. The NAVEG examines three key areas of visual functioning: ocular visual components, motor visual components, and perceptual visual components. When a child meets a specific scoring threshold, results may indicate a risk for CVI and signal the need for further evaluation by an eye care professional. This workshop is designed to provide participants with comprehensive training on administering the NAVEG screening. The two full-day training includes foundational background information and theory, paired with guided, hands-on practice of each screening component to support confident and accurate implementation. **This training is reserved for TSVIs and COMS currently employed by a school district within the Region One area. **Participants must register using their school district email address in order to enroll.

Participants will review different types of hearing and vision differences to understand that louder and bigger do not always guarantee access. The session will emphasize identifying appropriate accommodations and modifications based on varied sensory needs and communication modes, ensuring evaluations capture a student’s true skills rather than the impact of sensory differences. Additional components include guidance on collaborative practices throughout the evaluation process, considerations from the Legal Framework that influence assessment planning and decision-making, and a review of key information provided by assessment publishers to support valid, legally sound, and equitable evaluations. #VIESC1 #DHHESC1 #IdentificationESC1

Post-secondary planning is about preparing students for life beyond the classroom—and assistive technology (AT) can be the bridge to independence. This interactive 30-minute session will highlight practical tools and strategies that support self-advocacy, organization, daily living, and employment skills for students with disabilities. Participants will explore real-world examples of how AT can be embedded into post secondary IEP goals and daily routines, and leave with quick wins they can apply immediately to help students take meaningful steps toward independence.#LIDESC1, #FAMESC1, #ATESC1, #TRESC1 Want more?
