Join the Region 7 Spanish Spelling Bee! Join us for an informational Zoom meeting on October 20 or October 27 to help you plan and host your own campus or district spelling bee. This event is open to students in grades 4–8. Bring your top two spellers to compete in the regional competition at Region 7 on January 23. To participate in the Regional Spanish Spelling Bee, your campus or district must first host a Spanish Spelling Bee for students in grades 4–8 prior to the regional competition. The Spanish Spelling Bee is a competition in which students in grades 4–8 spell challenging Spanish words in a bee-style format, testing their knowledge of Spanish vocabulary and orthography. Each district may bring its top two Spanish spellers along with at least one district or campus staff chaperone. All students will compete in the same group (grades 4–8) using words from the same spelling list. The competition is conducted entirely in Spanish, requiring students to spell words with correct accents and diacritical marks. The top five spellers at the regional level will advance to the State Spanish Spelling Bee in El Paso, Texas, on June 4, 2026.

Universal Intervention (Tier 1) takes place in the general education classroom, providing all students with the support they need to engage with grade-level content. Core instructional strategies, such as explicit instruction, scaffolding, and differentiation, address the academic needs of approximately 80% of the student population. For those requiring additional support beyond the standard instruction, a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework is used to identify, design, and implement targeted interventions aimed at closing skill gaps. Join us as we dive into the purpose and power of MTSS using TIER (Tiered Interventions Using Evidence-Based Research) materials and resources. We will focus on how it drives academic success for every student.

The Region 7 Spanish Spelling Bee is a competition where students in grades 4-8, spell challenging Spanish words in a bee-style format, testing their knowledge of Spanish vocabulary and orthography. Each district may bring its top 2 Spanish spellers and at least one (or more) district or campus staff chaperones. All students will compete in the same group (grades 4 through 8) with words from the same spelling list. The competition is entirely in Spanish, requiring students to spell words with correct accents and diacritical marks. The top 5 spellers will have the opportunity to advance to the state Spanish Spelling Bee, which will take place in El Paso, Texas in June 2026.

Let us support you with your renewal application. TIA offers five-year system approvals for local designation systems. Districts must submit a renewal application during year five. This will ensure continuity with the data submission and allow districts to continually designate teachers. This workshop will support the renewal process. We will support you with (1) meeting current statutory requirements, (2) holistically reviewing the existing system to identify strengths and areas for continuous improvement, and (3) expanding or modifying your local designation system to include additional eligible teaching assignments. Districts that do not submit a renewal application on their required renewal timeline will have an expired TIA system and will no longer be able to designate teachers.
