Teams are registered by contacting the Center for Effective Schools Team and securing a customized service agreement prior to services. This leader cohort will focus on systems and processes for effective teacher internalization of high-quality instructional materials that lead to high-quality, impactful instruction grounded in research-based instructional strategies. The purpose of the TIL Materials Internalization and Alignment training is to build the capacity of school leaders to invest and coach teachers in the effective internalization of HQIM units and lessons. Across three days of leader training, leaders will learn what the research says about the importance of using HQIM and establishing strong internalization practices, how to effectively internalize units and lessons in ELAR, Math, and Foundational Reading Skills, as well as how to create the conditions for success with strong implementation and support of teachers. In this training, leaders will dig into the positive impact high-quality instructional materials have on students, teachers, and school systems when paired with professional development for teachers in how to use their curriculum products. They will then learn about and practice using internalization protocols for units and lessons using sample curriculum products for K-5 math, ELAR, and foundational reading skills. Finally, leaders will learn the characteristics of an effective professional learning community, and leverage coaching guides to plan for and establish the systems that will support ongoing teacher professional development focused on the successful implementation of high-quality instructional materials. They will get the chance to practice planning development at the weekly and monthly levels to ensure teachers have the time and space to plan for instruction. All Texas Instructional Leadership Cohorts at Region 7 require the following: 1. A Team of 3 Engagement (DCSI/Principal Supervisor, Campus Principal, and other campus leader of choice) 2. A Customized Service Agreement with Region 7 defining the scope of work and fees for the year(s) of engagement. **(Participants are registered for the session once the District has signed and returned their Customized Service Agreement)

Texas has continued developing guidance with implementing the Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS). MTSS, if done with fidelity and evidence-based interventions, can provide useful data about the level of support a student needs. This workshop will target three specific modules developed by the state network TIER: a) the Universal Screener, (b) Progress Monitoring, and (c) Data-Driven Decision Making. These critical components of a three-tiered framework provided the evidence needed to determine if the student is responding positively and closing the gap between their performance and their same-aged peers. We will also review Senate Bill 1153 and how we document what interventions and supports students receive to determine if they are responding academically and behaviorally. Attendees will be able to participate in this webinar in their district via the Zoom link provided in the registration confirmation email.

In the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), schools are required to have a process for identifying students in need of additional intervention and support to access Universal core instruction. When used as intended, the three-tiered process uses individual student data to determine what evidence-based intervention and support strategies are needed to fill in academic and behavioral gaps for students at risk, including those with disabilities. Response to Intervention (RtI) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) fall under the umbrella of MTSS. This workshop will look at TEA's Statewide Initiative for implementing an effective student support system. We will target the nonnegotiable components of a three-tiered framework and the common trends hindering the work. This workshop is primarily for Chapel Hill ISD.

By law, Texas Middle School Fluency Assessment (TMSFA) must be given to all 7th-grade students who failed the previous year's state test before the end of the 1st six weeks of school. All available data, including the Spring assessment, should be used to determine at-risk students. We must determine deficits in student reading using an approved reading assessment instrument. From the results of this assessment, a plan must be made for reading intervention to help each student read on grade level. This initial session will train teachers to give the TMSFA and discuss the meaning or interpretation of those scores.

By law, an approved fluency assessment from the Commissioner's approved list, such as Texas Middle School Fluency Assessment (TMSFA), must be given to all 7th-grade students who failed the previous year's state test before the end of the 1st six weeks of school. All available data, including the Spring assessment, should be used to determine at-risk students. We must determine deficits in student reading using an approved reading assessment instrument. From the results of this assessment, a plan must be made for reading intervention to help each student read on grade level. This session will focus on planning the intervention using your test results. Bring those results with you, and work with our team of specialists to create a plan of action.

It has been two years since ECR was added to the STAAR assessment. In that time we have all learned, grown, and risked much to meet this challenge. Now that we have a system down and a better understanding of this task, it is time to focus on refining the ECR so that it is not formulaic, but rather leverages the skills of good authors so that we can grow great writers in our clasrroms. This session will focus on any relevant updates regarding ECR, the use of the author's craft within writing, and how to guide authentic revision and editing in drafts. Educators will leave this session will skills and tools to immediately take back to refine Extended Constructed Responses in their classrooms.

Discussing and planning together is our first step to higher levels of achievement. Brainstorming different strategies, such as anchor charts and brain dumps, and then making them fit the specific needs of students will be our first task. Colorful anchor charts can help students remember the material, while brain dumps are valuable to ease students' stress when taking an assessment. After the workshop, it's essential to reflect on when and how to use the tools you made, and that is the baking part of the process. Join us to make, take, and bake these strategies that can increase student achievement. Please bring your laptop or device to create and save materials.

Universal Intervention (Tier 1) occurs in the general education classroom and is designed to support all students in their ability to access good instruction at grade level. Interventions and supports received during the core instructional minutes (universal time for all) meet the needs of about 80% of a school's population for academics and behavior. For students needing additional intervention and support above the regular core instructional minutes, a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework is implemented to problem-solve, design, and implement individualized learning plans to close identified skill gaps. Join us as we explore the why of MTSS. Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) fall under the MTSS umbrella and TEA's expectation of the framework. This introductory level will dive deep into processes of the systematic framework of academic and behavioral interventions necessary for student progress. Attendees will be able to participate in this webinar in their district via the Zoom link provided in the registration confirmation email.

In the realm of secondary mathematics education, the value of hands-on learning experiences remains paramount. By engaging students in tactile exploration and manipulation of mathematical concepts through the use of manipulatives, we can facilitate deeper comprehension and mastery. The journey from concrete to abstract understanding, following the Concrete-Representational-Abstract (CRA) approach, stands as a cornerstone of effective pedagogy. This brain-based strategy not only cultivates a deeper understanding of mathematical principles but also nurtures critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities. By embracing the Concrete-Representational-Abstract approach, we empower secondary math students to ascend to higher levels of proficiency and conceptual mastery. Let us get together and discuss and build our commitment to guiding them along this transformative educational journey.

When the current inclusive provisions and supports are not meeting the needs of a student (whether academic, behavioral, or social/emotional), that student may require other levels of support. About 20% of students typically require targeted intervention (Tier 2). Intensive intervention (Tier 3) is designed for students who demonstrate an inadequate response to universal and targeted intervention, typically about 5% or less. Schools have different ways of conceptualizing and implementing intensive interventions. We will present evidence-based strategies that are typically used at each level of intensity, highlight how to track the progress of student goals and identify what data must be reviewed to determine Tier movement. TEA's intentions of implementation will be discussed and reviewed. Attendees will be able to participate in this webinar in their district via the Zoom link provided in the registration confirmation email.

Are our students where we would like them to be? How do you know what your students know and understand? Building teaching practices for enhancing our students' learning moves our students to higher levels of success. Understanding your student's strengths and weaknesses will drive the practices and discussions. Through an examination of the data, the TEKS, and research-based instructional strategies, the group will collaborate on problem-solving, vertical alignment, and meeting the needs of students. Teachers will collaborate, share resources, and practice math instructional strategies in order for their students to gain a better understanding of concepts. Join the group and add to your instructional toolbox. The cohort will be located at Westwood ISD and surrounding districts are encouraged to attend.

Today's classroom instruction should include several common practices that are designed to meet the needs of all learners. How do we support school improvement and improve outcomes for students when there isn't a "one size fits all" program? This workshop will dive into the evidence-based research that supports high-quality classroom instruction and interventions. Universal Design Learning (UDL), scaffolding, differentiation, explicit instruction, and other practices will be discussed to fill in gaps through Tier 1 instruction and other scheduled intervention times. We will dive into scenarios that help us determine the distinctions between intervening, accommodating, and modificating student learning with and without disabilities. Attendees will be able to participate in this webinar in their district via the Zoom link provided in the registration confirmation email.

Do you strive to help students go beyond rote memorization and repetitive calculations? Many traditional classroom norms and habits actually enable "non-thinking" student behavior. This session will be based on Peter Liljedahl's book, Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics. We will learn how to set the stage for transforming the classroom into one focused on learning-centered, student-owned deep mathematical thinking and learning.

Based on the Nancy Motley publication from Seidlitz Education, "Small Moves, Big Gains" This training offers educators a straightforward path toward increasing student outcomes. The small moves in this training are brief, actionable, and require little to no preparation. Each one is a high-yield strategy that benefits all types of learners and can be applied across content areas. "Small Moves, Big Gains" gives practical steps for turning the moves into automatic habits – showing teachers how to do them, why they are significant, and possible variations. Each participant will receive a copy of the book.
